Dewoitine D.520
Here is another book series that I really enjoyed called "Les Ailes de Gloire" from the French publisher Editions d'Along. The D.520 was number 8 in the line and the the others were on different French military aircraft. Mostly the World War II era, but some post-war. These titles were in French, but some of the earlier ones had an English translation sheet included. Even in French these are wonderful little books. At 7 x 10, softcover, and 68 pages they are full of photos, drawings, color profiles, and scale drawings. I have not seen a new one in several years and I think the company is out of business. That is too bad. I will miss them.

Italian aircraft in World War Two
Here is a series from the wonderful Italian publisher La Bancarella Aeronautica called "Ali E Colori". This 6 volume set covers the following aircraft; Cr.42, Mc.200, G.50, Mc.202, Mc.202/205, and Reggiane. What is unique about these is that they show these aircraft in color profiles. With around 50 different profiles in each volume, including top and bottom views and some scale line drawings, these are are must not only for model builders but for aviation historians. Also, each profile is documented to show time, place, and some pilots. These books, and the others from this publisher, come with dual Italian and English text. Check them out.

Modelling the Luftwaffe
Here is a Special Edition magazine from Military In Scale out of the UK. They have given us a magazine about model building for 14 different Luftwaffe aircraft. These include; 190D, 109E, 110, 190D(1/144), Do335, Ju290, He111H, Storch Dio, Me163, Fw Flitzer, Ar234B, Go229, Arado E-337 w/ Trolley, and Me P1099. For you builders this is a good look at other peoples' styles. For the book collector, not. It has no historical photo content.

Now for something different

How about a new non-aviation book that I just received, "US Navy Ships Camouflage WW.II: Destroyers and Destroyer Escorts" by Al Adcock from Squadron Signal publishing. This 8 1/2 x 11 horizontal 68 page book has 113 b&w photos, 3 color photos, 31 color profiles, and color covers. The reason that I like this book is that it covers a subject that seems to have been overlooked. With so many books on the air and ground war, one on ships is most welcome.
Especially covering ship camouflage, and the color profiles are most helpful. A WW.II history buff,or model builder, should check this title out. I think you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
